Paul Jaboulet Aine
Paul Jaboulet Aîné Côtes du Rhône Parallèle 45 Blanc 2022
Details
Beginning in 1950, the name of this Rhône blend, Bourboulenc, Grenache, Marsanne, Viognier, is taken from the 45th North parallel, which runs two kilometres from the domain's cellars.
Nice visual qualities for this wine with a beautiful colour and intense sparkle. The nose is delicate and subtle, with aromas of white flowers followed by citrus fruit. On the palate, the wine gains volume and expresses itself thanks to a beautiful tension. We distinguish notes of vine peaches, acacia flowers and citrus fruits. The finish is long and persistent, giving this wine great drinkability.
Biodynamic.
13.5% ABV.
Mention the Rhone Valley to anyone around the world and a small chapel perched upon a vine clad hill is likely to be one of the first images that springs to mind. La Chapelle in Hermitage is one of the finest and most iconic vineyards in the world. It belongs to Paul Jaboulet Aîné. Almost two centuries ago, this famous vineyard was established by Antoine Jaboulet. During the latter half of the twentieth century, Gerard Jaboulet worked tirelessly to promote Rhône Valley wines around the world, further increasing their reputation. In 2006, Jean-Jacques Frey bought Paul Jaboulet Aîné. The Frey family have become increasingly important in the French wine industry. Caroline Frey is currently the winemaker and viticulturist for Paul Jaboulet Aîné. Fast becoming one of the top winemakers in France, she is following biodynamic practices, and with the installation of a brand new gravity-flow winery, she is producing stunning wines, striving to make them better and better each year.
Cameron Douglas | 91 Points "A perfectly executed white wine blend with a lifted bouquet of white-fleshed fruits and dry stone mineral qualities, then flavours of the apple and lemon, apricot and white spices, there’s a saltiness from the Marsanne and Roussanne varieties as well as white apricot and a whisper of pepper and dried herb. Dry, plenty of weight with some fruit tannins for mouthfeel, medium+ acid line and a balanced persistent flavours on the finish. Best drinking with food from day of purchase through 2027."
