Details

Soft lemon in colour with brilliantly balanced acidity, the Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese* 2018 is a true masterpiece from a family-owned winery with a rich heritage. The Kerpen family has been producing wine in the Mosel region of Germany for over 250 years, and their commitment to traditional winemaking methods is evident in every sip.

The grapes for this wine are grown on the steep slopes of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard, which is known for its unique microclimate and mineral-rich soil. The grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected to ensure only the highest quality fruit is used in the winemaking process.

The traditional winemaking process involves a slow and gentle pressing of the grapes, followed by a cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels for several months, allowing it to develop its complex flavour profile.

The result is a wine with a delicate aroma of apple, peach and pineapple, and a long and elegant finish. The balanced acidity makes it a perfect pairing for spicy curries, while its refreshing nature makes it an ideal choice for summer evenings with fruit, cheese and crackers.
