France has produced the global benchmark of wine for centuries and its influence can be seen in every wine producing country today.

Several winemaking concepts and techniques, such as terroir (tear-wah), have been exported to every corner of the globe. Cuttings of French grape varieties have been smuggled in suitcases and gumboots by ambitious winemakers with the hope that they might be able to reproduce the magic of France in their home country.

Cháteau Mezain Bordeaux 2022 On the palate, Château Mezain Bordeaux 2022 reveals a supple, juicy texture reminiscent of delectable blueberry jam. Made from a carefully curated blend of 68% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, it carries the signature touch of Bordeaux winemaking.

Veuve Elise Blanc de Blancs Brut NV An easy, crisp, and dry French bubbly from the South of France. Made in a blanc de blancs style (meaning only white grapes are used in production) it is a pale but bright yellow in the glass with a fine, fast mousse and aromatic nose. Surprise and delight guests with this delicious drop without breaking the bank. Drink now. An extraordinary value French bubbly that will please most palates without breaking the bank. Perfect for Christmas and New Year celebrations with family and friends or work colleagues.

Château Artos Lacas AOP Corbiere 2022 Chateau Artos Lacas produces this big blend of 4 grapes, Carignan, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, every year, and the 2022 is even better than previous vintages. Filled with bramble-like notes, earthy vanilla, and ripe red cherries, it's luscious and full-bodied, a delicious accompaniment to beef Wellington or a perfectly cooked steak. Drink now and in years to come.

Prestige de Calvet Côtes Du Rhône 2021 Warming and rich, perfect for winter! The Cotes du Rhone is the home of Syrah in France. In the north its usually made as a single varietal (although sometimes mixed with a splash of Viognier) and in the south, it can be mixed into a blend of up to 7 grapes. The Prestige de Calvet Syrah is grown in the south and is blended with Grenache, creating a sumptuous red which is the perfect pairing to any winter meal. Ripe cherries and jammy strawberries mingle with vanilla and Christmas cake spice on the palate. Drink this one now!

Marcel Martin Chenin Blanc 2022 Described as "just stunning" by NZ wine writer Lynnette Hudson, this dry, unoaked delight lives up to the hype. It's the perfect choice for those seeking a fresh and exciting addition to their white wine collection.

Fleurs de Prairie Rosé 2022 It's fresh and fruity, with notes of wild strawberry, subtle plum and a lovely floral, lemon finish. Drink this one now and into the summer of 2024/25. Notes of blackcurrant leaf, lemon and tart wild strawberry give it a slightly savoury character, the complete antithesis to the fruit bombs we’re used to on this side of the world. Try it out with a summer salad laced with fresh peaches and white fish cooked in butter or on its own as an aperitif.
