Discover the sophistication of Hawkshead Pinot Noir 2021, an exquisite representation of Central Otago's renowned winegrowing region. This wine reflects the exceptional care and passion that define Hawkshead's winemaking philosophy.
Vineyard: Hawkshead’s journey began in 1995 when Denis Marshall, after a distinguished career in politics and a deep commitment to horticulture and conservation, purchased a plot in Gibbston Valley. The first Pinot Noir vines were planted in 2001, with additional plantings following in 2003. By 2005, Denis and his partner Ulrike established the Hawkshead Vineyard Partnership, focusing on meticulous land use and soil management with minimal interference with nature. The high-altitude vineyards and well-drained soils of Central Otago create the perfect conditions for producing this elegant Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes: The Hawkshead Pinot Noir 2021 offers a captivating bouquet of ripe cherry, raspberry, and subtle earthy notes. The palate reveals a harmonious blend of red fruit flavours, including wild strawberry and cranberry, complemented by delicate hints of spice and cinnamon. Fine tannins and balanced acidity contribute to a smooth, lingering finish, showcasing the wine’s refined structure and complexity.
Winemaking: Crafted with traditional winemaking techniques, this Pinot Noir undergoes careful fermentation and maturation in French oak barrels. The result is a wine that highlights the purity of its fruit while adding subtle layers of vanilla and toast.
Perfectly paired with dishes such as roast duck, grilled salmon, or a mushroom risotto, the Hawkshead Pinot Noir 2021 embodies the elegance and distinctive character of Central Otago’s winemaking. Enjoy this vintage as a testament to the dedication and vision behind Hawkshead Vineyard.
