Pinot Noir is a notoriously difficult grape to cultivate, thriving best in cooler climates. The Central Otago region, with its unique terroir, is rapidly gaining a reputation for producing exceptional quality Pinot Noir. This terroir yields fruit that is intensely coloured and bursting with flavour, resulting in stunning wines with black fruit characteristics and richly perfumed profiles, hallmark traits of Central Otago wines.

The 2020 Nevis Bluff Pinot Noir captivates with its enticing spicy and rich cherry red chocolate aromas, complemented by riverstone and mineral elements on the nose. This vintage embodies the essence of Central Otago, delivering a wine that is both complex and beautifully balanced. The grapes for these single vineyard wines are sourced from the L’Attitude Vineyard, situated in the Pisa sub-region of the Cromwell basin. This top-quality vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc, and is certified sustainable through the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) programme.

Nevis Bluff plays a key role in the Central Otago wine industry and is aptly named the ‘Pinot Specialist,’ reflecting the vineyard’s ambition to produce distinctive Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir wines.

This Pinot Noir immediately entices the nose with sweet cherry, dried herb, warm spice, and earthy mushroom aromas. The palate delivers a silky-smooth mouthfeel combined with an elegant texture backed by fine, polished tannins, finishing persistent and velvety. Wonderfully harmonious and sensually appealing. At its best: now to 2030.
